There are lots of photos available on this website (which I shamelssly use here) but it also has up-to-date news and - if you wish to subcribe - video content. After their high-handed attitude to my promotion of their website I almost removed this link. However, that would have been a shame as (despite being very much 'on message') it has many excellent guides and F1 insights. Wet qualifying and dry race? Or vice versa? Quick links to weather forecasts at the world's motorport venues (although the BBC clearly don't know just which circuits are currently being used by Formula 1). Finally a couple of sites that don't give the latest testing news or the FIA missive: Nice clear and concise guide to how Formula 1 works. A handy summary of the FIA changes this season with full details for the truly dedicated.
FIA Formula 1 World Championship 2008
The 'frozen-in-2006' 2400cc V8’s (regulatory 90° included angle, minimum weight of 95kg) continue for another season, again with a regulatory 19,000rpm rev limit. However, this season they will be managed by an FIA supplied ECU (interestingly, manufactured by McLaren), the principal aim of which - in the long term at least - is to reduce costs. However, it also neatly allows traction control to be engineered-out. You can't help thinking thought that the teams are actively trying to work around that particular problem. Another cost saving measure is the requirement for gearboxes to last four races in 2008. Teams forced to change will receive a grid demotion of five places, unless it causes retirement from a race. Finally, qualifying has been tweaked to remove the silly 'fuel-burn' and 'fuel-credit' palaver in Q3. A comprehensive sports betting website that pulls together odds from all over the internet. Those bookies are no mugs.
The above links are fairly general but here a couple of specific pages you may find useful from the Formula 1 website: A website with a less celebrity, less tittle-tattle and more technical emphasis; perfect for us petrolheads.
The schedule of TV coverage in the UK which - despite the jingoism - is at least free to view. Coverage is also 'Simulcast' on-line with free highlight videos available.
Crawls other F1 websites and picks-up their headlines. Can be slow sometimes but is still a very useful resource.
A stunning non-commercial website by Andrew Novikov with a huge amount of historical data from the birth of the modern Formula 1 era in 1951 to the present date. |
